My client already bought this unit with fully furnished option (together with 1 sofa bed, 2 dining chairs, 1 small dining table, 1 center table plus appliances like ref, microwave oven and cooktop)
They want to revamp the space, add decors and accents all over the place.
My client and I wants to maintain the open plan and functional layout without adding partitions or wall to separate the room. Since there is limited time to furnish the entire room, we opt for ready made furniture pieces and hire cabinet contractor who can deliver and install our custom cabinets within 7-8 days. And to make the room more homey+soft+comfortable, we added heavy off-white side curtains on our window.
We re-used the sofa bed they already own and bought additional mattress on top of it. To make it look like a decent bed, we ordered custom made padded headboard and installed it on the wall. The decorative wall mirror was bought from Canada by my client, this is the most inexpensive way to create illusion of space.
We created intimate dining area by adding art work on wall and drop light.
For me, interior design and decoration expense should work within my client’s budget. It doesn’t have to be all-new items or changing the entire look of the space. I usually ask my client’s workable budget and what item (s) they want to maintain or re-use and then we study/ discuss if it’s workable or not. At the end of the day, my client is happy (by not exceeding the budget) and I am happy… hoping that I was able to inspire them to aim for better things, better lifestyle and better environment without spending too much or more than they can afford.
